WSOP and Venetian Offer Vegas Poker Dealer Jobs
Last year, the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas had a dealer problem. The WSOP was so short on dealers that it forced the closure of poker rooms at the Flamingo and Bally’s so those dealers could assist at the Rio with the World Series. To be fair, the pandemic was still a danger. Dealers had to wear masks – though there was no Caesars vaccination requirement for dealers – for long shifts. And some poker dealers who had been laid off during the pandemic had found alternative employment. All of it led to a staffing shortage.
The World Series of Poker is preparing early this year. They already put out a call for dealers and announced a new and improved pay structure.
Over at the Venetian poker room in Las Vegas, its management also appealed for seasonal dealers for the summer 2022 poker rush.
WSOP Dealer Request
The request for people to apply to be dealers at the 2022 WSOP came with news of a new pay structure.
Dealers at Bally’s and Paris for the summer WSOP will receive $12.50 per hour to start, plus overtime pay. They will also receive a $100 bonus after completing their first shift. For those dealing Hold’em bracelet events and side events, Caesars is guaranteeing $15 per down. And for non-Hold’em bracelet events, the guarantee is $20 per down.
Finally, at the end of the WSOP, they will pay all dealers a bonus from leftover funds. They will distribute it based on the number of downs each dealer worked throughout the series.
WSOP Vice President Jack Effel also promises that the Bally’s and Paris location for the WSOP has a good employee dining room. He made a plea on Caesars’ Twitter account for dealers to apply:
With the historic 2022 the World Series of Poker tournament approaching on May 31, @WSOP is actively hiring dealers and just announced a new pay structure. Here are a few words from Jack Effel, Vice President of World Series of Poker.

WSOP Dealer Requirements
The WSOP dealer application page notes that all applicants must pass a dealer audition. That should not be a surprise. They must b able to deal all flop, draw, and seven-card tournament games in limit, no-limit, and pot-limit formats. And they prove that they have worked six months on a full-time basis or one year on a part-time basis at a licensed poker facility.
Applicants must be able to obtain a Nevada gaming license prior to being hired.
The full WSOP dealer audition will test game knowledge, including rules and procedures, as well as math and comprehension skills and the ability to speak and understand English.
Of course, dealer applicants must be able to handle the sometimes fast-paced WSOP environment, as well as customer demands, without frustration. The room temperatures can be warm or cool. And the WSOP requires dealers to sit and stand for long periods of time.

Venetian Needs Dealers
The Venetian in Las Vegas has one of the most popular poker rooms in town. There always seems to be a series running – DeepStack Extravaganza, DeepStack Poker Series – and often, they host large poker tours like the Mid-States Poker Tour and World Poker Tour for big events. During the summer, when the World Series of Poker is running nearby, the Venetian provides one of the alternatives.
This year, the Venetian is ready to staff up in preparation for the summer rush.
The Venetian is hiring for on-call and seasonal dealers, as well as a poker room attendant. The latter is a person that can handle seating for cash games and tournaments, field calls and in-person requests, and deal with rewards redemptions.
Dealers must be able to fulfill most of the same requirements as listed above for the WSOP. The Venetian requires one year of casino experience required. In addition, applicants must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds unassisted and physically access the entire property (with or without reasonable accommodations).
Details and a link to the applications are on this Venetian careers page.
