WSOP Reveals 99-Event Summer Schedule
The poker world knew the bookend dates and Main Event outline on December 15, 2023. As the World Series of Poker wrapped its inaugural WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas, the team announced some dates:
- The 55th annual WSOP is set for May 28 to July 17, 2024.
- The 2024 WSOP Main Event will run July 3-17, 2024.
Poker players and fans waited through the holiday season and then through January for more information. Many of them asked Kevin Mathers on social media if he knew when the schedule would be revealed. He only knew what the WSOP told him. At first, he only knew February, and early in the month became mid-February, which became Valentine’s Day. Finally, the full summer live tournament schedule dropped on February 16.
Let’s get into it.
When and Where
It was no surprise to learn that the 2024 WSOP will be on the Las Vegas Strip for a third year, sharing ballrooms in the connected Paris and Horseshoe casinos. And many things will be in the same place, such as the main registration area located in the Champagne Ballroom at Paris, the final table area the furthest Horseshoe conference room, and kiosks located throughout the tournament areas.
One piece of news from the announcement informed players that there will be another 100 tables added to the tournament areas. On top of the 608 that they used last year, it will put that number over 700 for 2024. This comes as an encouraging development, especially for Daily Deepstack players, whose events were often cancelled in the past due to large bracelet events taking up more than their allotted space.
Day 1 will be Tuesday, May 28. The doors will open at 9am. On tap for that opening day:
- 9am: Registration opens, and ash games and satellites begin.
- 12pm: Event 1 (Champions Reunion NLHE Freezeout) begins with $5K buy-in.
- 1pm: Daily Deepstacks begin with $250 buy-in.
- 2pm: Event 2 (Casino Employees NLHE) begins with $500 buy-in.
- 4pm: Daily Deepstacks continue with $400 buy-in at accelerated format.
- 8pm: Daily Deepstacks run $200 buy-in with accelerated format.
Then, a lot happens.
Ultimately, everything will wrap on Wednesday, July 17. There will be no more satellites or Daily Deepstacks, and much of the ballroom area will be emptied, with the exception of the following:
- 10am: Event 99 (Super Turbo NLHE) begins with $1K buy-in.
- TBD: Event 93 (Lucky 7s NLHE) finishes its final day of play.
- TBD: Event 97 (PLO 6-Handed) finishes its final day.
- TBD: Event 98 (Closer NLHE) plays to a winner.
- TBD: WSOP Main Event plays the remainder of its final table to a winner.
- TBD: Paris registration and cashier cages close.
There are a few time designations yet to be determined later in this series or even on that final day.
2024 WSOP Schedule
The listing of 2024 World Series of Poker tournaments – live ones set for Las Vegas – consists of 99 tournaments. That is four more than in 2023.
There is an important caveat, though. The Tournament of Champions for WSOP Circuit winners throughout the year is not listed. It will happen, and it will be a bracelet event, but information is not yet available. That will likely put the total number of live bracelet events at an even 100.

Schedule Standouts
Players will notice changes from the very start of the schedule.
For years, the Casino Employees tournament was the kick-off event of the summer WSOP, but it is now the second event. The first is a new offering, and the Champions Reunion will feature a special bounty component. The 2023 WSOP Main Event champion, Daniel Weinman, along with many other past Main Event champions, will play the tournament alongside the general public. Those invited players, however, will be the only ones with bounties on their heads. Anyone who knocks one of them out will receive a $10K seat into the 2024 WSOP Main Event this summer.
That is just the first of the latest additions to the WSOP schedule. Others include:
- $500 buy-in WSOP Kickoff NLHE freezeout tournament on opening weekend
- $10K Big O Championship featuring five-card PLO-8
- $1,500 Mixed Hold’em/Omaha Double Board Bomb Pot tournament
- $600 Deepstack Championship, now sponsored by PokerNEws
- $5K Seniors High Roller for players 50 and over, the highest buy-in for this demographic
- $800 buy-in Independence Day Celebration coinciding with Main Event start
- $3K Mid-Stakes NLHE Championship to celebrate the mid-stakes players
There were no standout deletions from the previous year’s schedule. Fan favorites like the Mystery Millions and Millionaire Maker, Colossus and Monster Stack, and Flip & Go and Tag Team return this year.
WSOP Main Event
Speaking of the World Series of Poker Main Event, the 2024 edition will be on the exact same schedule as last year. They only want to make it bigger this year.
The World Series of Poker made it a mission last year to eat the largest field and prize pool ever for its $10K buy-in Main Event. It worked. With 10,043 players, the prize pool came to $93,999,900. And in the end, Dan Weinman won the tournament for $12.1M.
This year, the WSOP would like to top those numbers.
There will be satellites on WSOP.com to award seats in places where the site is regulated – Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Ontario. And Main Event Maynia will return with opportunities for players around the US and world to win their seats through live tiered satellites in land-based poker rooms.
The noticeable change in opportunity will be on WSOP’s global online poker partner, GGPoker. Last year, the “Road to Vegas” promotion awarded 774 Main Event seats. This year, the site plans to send 1,000 players to the WSOP Main Event. The promotion has yet to go live or announce specifics, but it will be a significant promo.
The World Championship will play out as follows:
- Monday, July 3 (Day 1A): first of four starting days
- Tuesday, July 4 (Day 1B): second of four starting days
- Wednesday, July 5 (Day 1C): third of four starting days
- Thursday, July 6 (Day 1D): final starting day
- Friday, July 7 (Day 2ABC): survivors of Days 1A, 1B, and 1C combine
- Saturday, July 8 (Day 2D): survivors of Day 1D return
- Sunday, July 9 (Day 3): all Day 2 survivors combine
- Monday, July 10 (Day 4): play continues
- Tuesday, July 11 (Day 5): play continues
- Wednesday, July 12 (Day 6): play continues
- Thursday, July 13 (Day 7): play continues
- Friday, July 14 (Day 8): play continues until 9 players remain
- Sunday, July 16: final table plays to 3 or 4 players
- Monday, July 17: final table continues until someone wins
Note that late registration will be open through part of Day 2ABC and Day 2D. And the missing day on the schedule – Saturday, July 15 – will be a day off for the final table players to rest, do interviews, and prepare as they choose.
When the WSOP releases the structure sheet for the Main Event, it will show the number of levels to play each day.
Daily Deepstacks
The daily tournaments during the World Series of Poker have become a huge attraction for players. The lower buy-in action does not offer gold bracelets or rings, but it provides almost constant poker tournament options. The Daily Deepstacks will begin on May 28 this year, and the last one will run on July 16. All of them are single-day events.
There will be three normal No Limit Hold’em deepstacked events, though one or two may be cancelled if tournament space is at a premium. This will likely happen less often in 2024, however, because of the addition of those 100 extra tables.
The full list of dailies is as follows:
- Daily at 1pm (May 28 – July 16) $250 buy-in NLHE
- Daily at 4pm (May 28 – July 16) $400 buy-in NLHE
- Daily at 8pm (May 28 – July 16) $200 buy-in NLHE
- Thursdays at 9am (May 30 – July 11) $250 buy-in Seniors NLHE for ages 50+
- Mondays at 3pm (June 3 – July 15) $250 buy-in HORSE
The other side event is a repeat of last year. Before the WSOP Ladies Championship, the WSOP hosts a Ladies Warm-Up tournament at 6pm on June 25. It is not a bracelet event but a $150 buy-in tournament, similar to a Daily Deepstack.
Watchable Action
Poker fans around the world can follow the action of the entire 2024 World Series of Poker through the usual live updates on PokerNews and via social media.
In addition, PokerGO will livestream many final tables again this year. There will be some free content, but a subscription is required for full coverage. The viewing schedule is not yet available, but there will likely be dozens of events available. And there will be daily coverage of the Main Event.
PokerGO will also produce episodes for CBS Sports, per that US-based partnership. Those will air on television later in the year.
