WSOP Online in US Launches Bracelet Event Satellites
The World Series of Poker piqued the interest of poker players around the world with its announcement that the WSOP would return to live action in 2021. Further, it announced online tournament series for both US and international players again this year. Its rebound from the pandemic craziness of 2020 promised to be a big deal.
The flurry of announcements came in April and…well…ended in April.
—Bookend dates for Las Vegas live series (September 30 – November 23)
—Dates for live WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas (November 4-17)
—Bookend dates for WSOP Europe in Rozvadov (November 19 – December 8)
—Starting date for WSOP Online in US (July 1)
—Full schedule for 33 bracelet WSOP Online events in US on WSOP-dot-com (July 1 – August 1)
—WSOP breaks up with ESPN and partners with CBS Sports for television coverage
—Bookend dates for WSOP Online international on GGPoker (August 1 – September 12)
And…that was it.
Neither the WSOP nor the WSOPcom Twitter accounts mentioned that WSOP satellites actually began on June 1 in the US. And those social media accounts have yet to follow up with any dates for the bracelet events on GGPoker or further information about the Las Vegas series later this year.
However, there are satellites running in the US for players located in New Jersey and Nevada. Someone should tell you about them.
Satellites for US Players
The top spot on the WSOP website provides a link to the WSOP-dot-com page advertising the satellites. They began on June 1 and run through June 30 on the US WSOP online poker sites, only available to players located in Nevada and New Jersey.
It is unclear if there will be additional satellites for the live WSOP events – including the Main Event – after June 30.
For the month of June, players can participate in satellites to win a WSOP Main Event seat for the live series in Las Vegas worth $10K. And there are daily satellites running for seats into the US online series in July.
-WSOP Main Event satellites run Sundays at 3:30pm PST June 6-27 for $215 buy-in
-WSOP US online bracelet satellites daily at 3:30pm PST June 5-27 for $5-$30
It should be noted that the terms and conditions sheet erroneously states that players can win seats to the 2020 WSOP Main Event. That was last year. They still haven’t hired an editor.
By pulling up the actual WSOP-dot-com poker site, one can see that there are smaller satellites for as little as $5 to the $500 online bracelet events. But the satties for the $10K Main Event seats aren’t even listed yet for the first one on Sunday.
The World Series of Poker definitely wants to sell some gear, though.

Where’s the Excitement?!
This year is the post-pandemic comeback for poker. Players are lining up to compete in World Poker Tour events, as well as mid-majors like the Mid-States Poker Tour and RunGood Poker Series. Executives and representatives for these tours have spent months doing interviews and making announcements to the press and on social media. Players
The World Series of Poker is planning for the return of its live series and more bracelets online. But where is the hype? Where is the lead-up?
The US online bracelet series begins in less than one month, and neither WSOP Twitter account has mentioned it since April. Neither account hyped the satellites that start this weekend. There seems to be no public relations effort to promote the US-based online series whatsoever.
Let’s hope that changes…soon.
