WSOP Main Event Maynia Satellites Set for May 20-21
The 2023 World Series of Poker will start in little more than two weeks. So far, we have been relaying information as the WSOP has announced it:
–Online WSOP bracelet breakdown
–Payouts, wires, satellites, and bets
–Online tournament registration
There will be more information in the days to come as the ramp-up to the series begins, but the WSOP wants poker players to start thinking ahead to the Main Event. It doesn’t start until the beginning of July, but it will be here before you know it. Summer poker time flies.
Main Event Maynia
Months ago, the World Series of Poker announced something called Main Event Maynia, an effort in May to award as seats as possible to the 2023 WSOP Main Event for players around the United States and the world.
Last year, the $10K buy-in Main Event had 8,663 players, and it was the closest that the WSOP has come to breaking the all-time record of 8,773 players in 2006. This year, the powers-that-be are determined to make it happen. There will be the usual live satellites at the WSOP – at Horseshoe and Paris in Las Vegas – and online satellites via the WSOP online poker sites in Nevada and New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.
Main Event Maynia, however, is different. It is an effort to use all of the Caesars-related properties – and other casinos around the world friendly with the WSOP – to offer live satellites.
The weekend of May 20-21 will be the time to seek out one of the following locations to win a WSOP Main Event prize package, which will – of course – include a $10K seat to the tournament.
-Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin, Illinois (US)
-Hard Rock Tulsa in Oklahoma (US)
-Harrah’s Cherokee in North Carolina (US)
-Harrah’s Pompano Beach in Florida (US)
-Horseshoe Council Bluffs in Iowa (US)
-Horseshoe Las Vegas in Nevada (US)
-Horseshoe St. Louis in Missouri (US)
-Horseshoe Tunica in Mississippi (US)
-Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln, California (US)
-Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York (US)
-Deerfoot Casino Calgary in Alberta (Canada)
-Enjoy Punta del Este Casino in Maldonado (Uruguay)
-King’s Casino in Rozvadov (Czech Republic)
-Playground Poker Club in Kahnawake, Quebec (Canada)
There are a few notes about this list.
First, the Playground Poker Club satellites will play out June 1-3 instead of the May weekend scheduled for every other poker room.
Second, there may be more casinos and card rooms added at the last minute. For example, the WSOP previously listed Club Pierre Charron in Paris, France, as a participant in Main Event Maynia, but the card room’s website does not mention the satellites. And the press release for this promotion mentioned that there would be a satellite location in Africa, but there is not one on the current list.
For the rooms on the list now, the WSOP website does provide links to flyers for all of the locations.
The mega satellites on the primary weekend(s) to win WSOP Main Event packages will cost $1,175 to enter. However, most locations are running preliminary satellites at much lower prices. Most offer $140 buy-in satellites, with even others offering opportunities like $20 Flip-and-Go events as well. Playground Poker is running $225 satellites. Every room is offering their own series.

2023 Main Event
It’s going to be big. It is likely going to break the all-time record. If there was ever a time to play the World Series of Poker Main Event, this will be the year to do it.
As in 2022, there will be four starting days this year July 3-6. And by the time play stops on July 17, there will be a new Main Event champion. The exact schedule is as follows:
-Monday, July 3 = Day 1A (5 levels)
-Tuesday, July 4 = Day 1B (5 levels)
-Wednesday, July 5 = Day 1C (5 levels)
-Thursday, July 6 = Day 1D (5 levels)
-Friday, July 7 = Day 2ABC (survivors of 1A, 1B, 1C return to play 5 levels)
-Saturday, July 8 = Day 2D (survivors of 1D return to play 5 levels)
-Sunday, July 9 = Day 3 (survivors of Day 2 return to play 5 levels)
-Monday, July 10 = Day 4 (5 levels)
-Tuesday, July 11 = Day 5 (5 levels)
-Wednesday, July 12 = Day 6 (5 levels)
-Thursday, July 13 = Day 7 (5 levels)
-Friday, July 14 = Day 8 (to 9 players remain)
-Sunday, July 16 = Day 9 (to 4 players)
-Monday, July 17 = Day 10 (to a winner)
The 54th annual #WSOP is going all-in to shatter the record field set in 2006 w/ the first-ever #MainEventMaynia on May 20-21. Several @CaesarsRewards destinations will participate for players to earn a seat at the Main Event.
