Uncertainty Prompts More Changes at WSOP Europe
As we noted yesterday, the 2021 WSOP Europe is filled with schedule changes and uncertainty. The rising number of Covid-19 cases in the Czech Republic, combined with worry of a new variant making its way from South Africa, is causing problems. There is also talk of a staffing shortage. Altogether, it means that things are changing daily at this point.
The latest iteration for the WSOPE Colossus tournament presented this schedule:
-Day 1D: Friday, Nov 26 at 10am (changed from 11am)
-Day 1E: cancelled
-Day 1F: Saturday, Nov 27 at 10am (changed from Nov 26 at 6pm)
-Day 1G: cancelled
-Day 2: Sunday, Nov 28 at 2pm
-Day 3: Monday, Nov 29 at 1pm
Also, the final table for the Mini Main Event had been scheduled for Friday but will now be played and livestreamed on Saturday. It is supposed to begin at 6pm local time…but the PokerNews update noted that “the exact starting time of the stream is to be confirmed.”
Important Update
New government regulations, but all planned WSOPE events still happening (adjustments).

✅ Borders are open

The overall problem revolves around the new Czech government limitation of 1,000 people per cultural or sporting event. That max number is a problem for a casino hosting several poker tournaments, obviously. And there is an order that all bars and clubs close at 10pm.
In addition, the regulations could change at any time, as the coronavirus pandemic dictates.
