TropicanaCasino Online Now Feature Net Entertainment 3D Animated Slots
Net Entertainment announced this week that its online games have gone live on TropicanaCasino Online, the Internet gaming portal of the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City. Net Ent signed a licensing deal with Tropicana in November 2015, setting the stage for its entry into the New Jersey licensed gaming market. After receiving approval by the Division of Gaming Enforcement, the launch happened recently.
Games had been available for some time in a limited capacity. The Division of Gaming Enforcement had granted a transactional waiver to NetEnt while games were being integrated into the Tropicana’s existing platform. Transactional waivers are sometimes allowed by the DGE when licensing is assumed to be a foregone conclusion.
Gamesys US software designed the gaming platform for both the TropicanaCasino and VirginCasino online gaming sites. Both sites are affiliated with the Tropicana Casino, which is owned by Carl Icahn.
About Net Entertainment
Net Entertainment is a Swedish online casino software developer. Net Ent launched its design team in 1996 as a spin-off of a lesser known company named Cherry. As a limited company, it is licensed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.
Under Per Eriksson, the company has become a leading online video slots designer. The main company headquarters is located in Luntmakargatan in Stockholm. In total, it now has offices in Sweden, Poland, Ukraine, Gibraltar, Malta, and the USA. In the spring of 2015, it officially changed its name to NetEnt AB.
NetEnt Slots
Over the years, Net Ent has developed games with widespread appeal, such as Starburst, Arabian Nights, Dazzle Me, Gonzo’s Quest, and Eggomatic. Gonzo (pictured above) is a kind of company mascot. In recent times, Net Ent released its line of “rock slots”.
NetEnt Rocks so far has produced three licensed slot machines: Guns N Roses Slots, Jimi Hendrix Slots, and Motorhead Slots. All three games debuted at a London games show in February 2016.
3D Animated Slots
No other company is more advanced in designing 3D animated slot machines than Net Entertainment. All of the games listed above are 3D slots, making them some of the most visually striking games in the online market. All should be available in the near-future on Tropicana Online, making them playable for gamblers in the New Jersey gaming market.
These 3D slots are well beyond what most of its competitors can produce, allowing Net Entertainment to sign licensing deals with many of the top online casinos in the international market. Even sites which bought licenses with established brands like Microgaming, Playtech, and IGT wanted to add NetEnt games to their catalog. Now, Tropicana has NetEnt video slots.
About Tropicana Casino
When Carl Icahn bought Tropicana Casino out of bankruptcy in 2010, many considered the land-based casino to be a lost cause. It was the worst period of the casino’s history, as outsiders known as Columbia Sussex had struggled to adjust to the Atlantic City market.
Atlantic City was going through its worst downturn in history. 2006 had been the peak year for Atlantic City gaming, but it began to decline after Pennsylvania licensed racetracks to have casino-style gaming machines on their premises. As Pennsylvanians began to stay home, Atlantic City casinos began to struggle.
Carl Icahn Takes Over
The struggle became acute when the Global Recession hit in 2008 and 2009. Tropicana under Columbia Sussex was a casualty of the global financial crisis and declared for bankruptcy in 2009. Carl Icahn bought the company late in that year, but did not take control of operations until 2010.
Over the next 5 years, Tropicana experienced a remarkable turnaround. People close to the situation said Icahn energized the management, while investing in much-needed renovations. By 2015, Tropicana was once again turning a profit.
Carl Icahn now owns Trump Taj Mahal. If ever that brick-and-mortar casino launched an online gaming portal, companies like Gamesys US and NetEnt AB are likely to be affiliated with those sites.
