Third WSOP Bracelet in Three Weeks for Scott Seiver
The feat is almost unheard of. Winning three World Series of Poker bracelets in the same series is rare. Despite the availability of 99 live tournaments at the 2024 WSOP and the addition of dozens more online during the same summer months, it is difficult for even the best players in the world to win a single WSOP gold bracelet.
There are those who defy the odds, of course. Players like Phil Hellmuth have performed fairly consistently through the years, and Hellmuth now holds a record 17 WSOP bracelets. Phil Ivey won his 11th this year, putting him in a category by himself and chasing only Hellmuth.
And then there is Scott Seiver, a highly accomplished poker player in most variants, a high-stakes player who plays with the best of the game. He is currently solidifying his place in poker history at the 2024 WSOP.
Numbers Matter
Seiver hit a couple of milestones with his latest accomplishment at the 2024 WSOP in Las Vegas.
Seiver won his third bracelet in one series. First, he won Event 10, the $10K Omaha-8 Championship tournament to claim his fifth career WSOP title. Within a two-week span of time, Seiver won his second bracelet of the year and his sixth overall by taking down Event 40, a $1,500 Razz tournament. Then, on the last day of June, he won Event 72, the $10K No Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw Championship. The last player to win three gold bracelets in a single World Series of Poker summer was Jeff Lisandro in 2009.
Not only was it his third in this single series but his seventh overall. That puts Seiver in an exclusive group of players alongside Daniel Negreanu, John Hennigan, Men Nguyen, and Billy Baxter.
Seiver’s career WSOP earnings now include 81 cashes in bracelet events and $7,397,903 from those cashes. With his total live tournament earnings throughout his career, he now sits with more than $26.7M, which puts him sixth on the all-time money list.
Even more, the latest score for Seiver puts him atop the 2024 WSOP Player of the Year leaderboard. He had been in a tight race for the title, but the Event 72 victory puts him on top.
- 1st place: Scott Seiver 3,757.01 points
- 2nd place: Jeremy Ausmus 3,368.48 points
- 3rd place: Chris Hunichen 2,751.92 points
- 4th place: Phil Ivey 2,579.60 points
- 5th place: Bryce Yockey 2,361.89 points
- 6th place: Daniel Negreanu 2,340.37 points
Knew I had to make a FT to pass Jeremy in POY but didn’t bank on him making the final table with me. Best POY race there’s ever been continues tomorrow.

While there are a few dozen tournaments left on the schedule and anything can change, Seiver’s latest win gave him a distinct advantage in the POY race at this point.
How Seiver Won Event 72
The tournament was one of the smaller ones at the World Series of Poker, as it garnered 186 entries. That made the total prize pool $1,729,800, out of which the top 28 finishers were paid.
By the time Day 2 came to an end, only nine players remained, and Seiver was fourth in the chip counts behind David Lin, Mike Watson, and Jeremy Ausmus. The minimum payout at that point was $39,882, but Seiver was only out for the bracelet.
Watson eliminated Jason Mercier in ninth place to set the final table, after which Jonathan Krela busted Robert Mizrachi in eighth place. Seiver had fallen in the counts, and Jen Harman was on a short stack. Seiver did double through Ausmus and got aggressive to climb over 1.5M chips. Ausmus eliminated Aaron Kupin in seventh place, and David Lin eventually took care of David Lin in sixth place.

Play slowed for a while, with the chip counts changing often. But Harman could never make serious progress. She ultimately lost a pot to Seiver, which sent her out in fifth place. Krela took care of Ausmus in fourth place, and Seiver did away with Lin in third.
Heads-up play began with Krela holding 6.5M chips and Seiver with 4,685,000 chips. Seiver started strong and quickly took over the chip lead. While Krela fought back and did regain his lead momentarily, it came down to Krela shoving with !0-8, but Seiver had 9-7.
