As the World Series of Poker action was wrapping up in Las Vegas for the summer, and as the Main Event was finding its ultimate winner, there was something else in the works. That was the anticipated announcement of WSOP Paradise.
Last year, the WSOP hosted its inaugural WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas in December, direct competition with the World Poker Tour’s WPT World Championship series at Wynn Las Vegas. Despite that overlap that frustrated many players into making travel choices just before the holidays, the WSOP has decided to run it again this December.

This year’s WSOP Paradise will again take place at Atlantis Paradise Island, a resort in the Caribbean that will spread cash game tables and a full tournament area. The dates of the series will be Friday, December 6 to Thursday, December 19 – nearly two weeks of action.
The full schedule is not yet available. Last year, the WSOP revealed the full schedule in mid-August, though changes came through between then and December. However, the WSOP did reveal some an idea of what the Main Event will look like, which will highlight the slate of tournaments with buy-ins of $2,500 to $1M..

According to the press release, online qualifiers began “immediately” on GGPoker. Undoubtedly, GGPoker will be awarding prize packages and sending numerous players to WSOP Paradise.
WSOP’s Ty Stewart said, “The action we saw during the WSOP summer series is a testament to the health of poker, particularly for high roller tournaments. Last year was no one-time gimmick. We’re thrilled GGPoker has reaffirmed their commitment to building WSOP Paradise through the biggest guarantee in poker history.”
