PokerStars USA Launches 25 Days of Tournaments
For the month of December – most of it – PokerStars wants to give poker players in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Michigan a series of poker tournaments. And the 25 Days of Tournaments gives it that holiday feel.
The series runs a bit like an Advent calendar, for those familiar with that religious tradition. Players must log in each day from December 6-30 to find out what the tournament of the day will be. They’ll all be good options and value; the variation will simply depend on how Santa PokerStars feels that day.
For those wanting to plan their schedules a bit, PokerStars will reveal the next day’s tournaments will be at 9pm local time. Those events will then actually begin on the designated day at 7:30pm ET. So, while playing one night, you can click on the calendar and see what’s on tap for the next day.
Each day will offer two buy-in levels of the same tournament – one will cost $50 and the other $10.
Participating players will also be eligible to win tournament tickets and Spin & Go tickets. There will also be tickets for daily freerolls ($100 prize pools) and weekly freerolls ($1K prize pools each) via the daily PokerStars Chest appearances.
First Two Days
The PokerStars USA tournament series began on Monday, December 6. Those tournaments were:
$10 & $50 buy-ins NLHE 3-Max PKO Big KO
-Michigan $3K & $7.5K GTD = actual prize pools $4.1K & $8.7K
-New Jersey $2K & $4K GTD = actual prize pools $2K (overlay) & $5.5K
-Pennsylvania $3.5K & $10K GTD = actual prize pools $6.1K & $13.6K
Only the low buy-in event in New Jersey failed to make its guarantee with only 228 entries. But the rest of the states showed themselves to be very popular.
The PokerStars sites announced their events for Tuesday, December 7 as follows:
$10 & $50 NLHE 6-Max PKO Zoom
-Michigan $3K & $10K GTD
-New Jersey $1.5K & $5K GTD
-Pennsylvania $4K & $12.5K GTD
As is clear, each state sets its own guarantees based on player histories and preferences.
In the future, PokerStars hopes to be able to connect its sites across state lines. This is not in the hands of PokerStars, however, as each states’ governors must sign the multi-state online poker agreement to allow sites to share their player pools. If this happens in 2022, PokerStars will be able to combine the sites in Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. This will offer one set of tournaments, larger guarantees, and an easier tournament tracking system.
