PokerStars Follows Lex Not Live with Turbo Bounties
‘Tis the season for online poker tournament series. It’s only been a few weeks since PokerStars wrapped its famous Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP), during which it awarded $139.8M in the global edition alone. The site distributed more millions to its Southern Europe players and the ones in the individual US markets. And then PokerStars introduced the SCOOP Afterparty, which just concluded last weekend.
With no rest for the grinders, PokerStars kicked off the very popular Lex Not Live this week. While players remain anxious to get back to Lex Live, the online version has proven to be a convenient substitute during the pandemic.
And on the day that series wraps, PokerStars will kick off a mix of two of its series with the Bounty Builder Turbo Series to run through June 6.
Lex Not Live 2021
Longtime PokerStars ambassador and member of Team Online Lex Veldhuis is hosting his Lex Not Live this week. The action started on May 18 and will run through Sunday, May 23 on the PokerStars dot-com site for the global audience.
The 18-event schedule features a mix of poker variations – Hold’em and Omaha, Short Deck and Fusion – with everything from heads-up Zoom to progressive knockouts thrown in for good measure. The variety and low buy-ins are signatures of Lex Live series. Buy-ins range from $11 to a $55 High Roller.
Ultimately, the Main Event will be a $33 buy-in affair on Sunday, May 23.
But what makes Velhuis’ community of poker players so unique is their sense of community within the larger poker sphere. He welcomes people from around the world to his Twitch channel and interacts with them. That inspired things like this:
–Players must have Twitch and PokerStars linked and find a daily password on Veldhuis’ Twitch channel to play in Main Event satellites.
–Players can pre-register for the Mandatory Discord Call Home Game that will put players on a voice call as they play together online.
–PokerStars will award special PokerStars chests with satellite tickets to players with PokerStars-Twitch-linked accounts.
–Veldhuis will host community events on Friday, May 21, including online video game activities and a virtual Amazon movie watch party that he may stream via Prime.
Bounties and Turbos, Oh My
Without wasting a moment, PokerStars will kick off its latest online poker tournament series on Sunday, May 23. The PokerStars Bounty Builder Turbo Series will run on the dot-com global site through June 6. The massive series will offer 184 events – all progressive knockouts (PKOs) and guaranteeing prize pools of at least $25M.
Every event in the series will play a turbo structure, with 45 of them punching up to hyper-turbos. The schedule boasts of at least 12 tournaments per day. There will be a variety of game variations, and buy-ins will start at just $5.50 but climb as high as $5,200.
Of course, there will be two Main Events during the series to offer players at different bankroll levels the opportunity to play. They both hit the schedule on Sunday, May 30, as follows:
-Event 89: $55 buy-in NLHE PKO 8-Max Main Event Low ($1M GTD)
-Event 90: $530 NLHE PKO 8-Max Main Event High ($2M GTD)
Players will find everything from deep stacks to freezeouts, heads-up and 6-max games, Win the Button and Double Deuce. The two weeks of the series will bring plenty of action for players at low buy-in levels, with satellites running for the larger buy-in events.
–$5.50 buy-ins = 6
–$11 buy-ins = 18
–$22 buy-ins = 37
And for those without a lot of time to play – or simply like the super-fast structures, there will be 46 hyper-turbos in the mix.
Players can check out the schedule as broken down by category on the PokerStars blog.
