PokerStars Announces 2017 New Jersey Spring Championship of Online Poker (NJSCOOP) Schedule
PokerStars announced this week a guaranteed prize pool of $1,200,000 for the New Jersey Spring Championship of Online Poker, usually referred to as NJSCOOP. The online poker toiurnament runs from May 6 to May 22.
The 2017 NJSCOOP schedule contains a wide variety of Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Stud, and HORSE events. It also contains 6-Max, 8-Max, Bubble Rush, and Turbo Shootout events. For low rollers, two separate methods of playing in the Main Event exist.
NJSCOOP Main Events: High Roller and Low Roller
The NJSCOOP schedule includes a number of high buy-in and low buy-in events with the most prestigious event being the $500 No Limit Texas Hold’em Main Event (High). That event has a guaranteed prize pool of $200,000.
For low rollers, the top event will be the $50 Main Event (Low) with a guaranteed prize pool of $30,000. All told, the tournament is going to have 35 full events over the 2-plus week tournaments. The guaranteed prize pool is $1.2 million, making the 2nd Annual New Jersey Spring Championship of Online Poker the biggest online poker event in the history of legalized New Jersey online poker.
Two Tiers for Each Event
The NJSCOOP has an interesting two-tiered buy-in game mechanic. Each event is going to have a “High” and “Low” buy-in, so the dual events are going to run concurrently. Both main events start on May 21 and run through May 22.
Players who want to win a seat in the high roller NJSCOOP Main Event can start entering satellite events immediately on the PokerStarsNJ website, which is owned as a joint venture between PokerStars and Resorts Casion in Atlantic City.
$4 Sit’n Go Satellite Events
The satellite events are $4 buy-in Sit & Go events. The winners receive a seat at the $50 Main Event. Presumably, sit-n-go events with higher entry fees allow for passage into $500 Main Event.
Fan favorite events like a No Limit Heads Up Hold’em event are on the schedule. The NLHE Heads Up event has a $20,000 guaranteed prize pool. Also, the NLHE Four Max $40,000 guaranteed event is expected to be popular with the New Jersey online poker crowd.
Two Sunday Specials
Each Sunday of the tournament has a big Sunday Special. The first Sunday Special is a $300 buy-in tournament with $85,000 in prize money in the pool. The second Sunday Special is a $350 buy-in tournament. In that case, the guaranteed prize pool is $65,000, though it is expected to have a smaller field and thus be easier to win.
Full List of NJSCOOP 2017 Events
The NJSCOOP full list of events includes a Progressive SuperKO, an Omaha 6-Max, a Win the Button event, a Turbo Shootout 6-Max event, an Eight Game 8-Max, a 6-Max Rebuy, a NLHE Bubble Rush event, a HORSE event, 5-Card Omaha 8-Max, Omaha Progressive SuperKO, Stud Hi/Lo, 3-Max Hyper Rebuy, a BigStack Turbo Event, and an Pot-Limit Omaha 1R1A 6-Max event.
