PokerGO Tour Heads into Omaha October
The PokerGO Tour heads into the heart of October with Pot Limit Omaha in the spotlight. The PGT PLO Series kicks things off on October 14 and leads into the PLO Super High Roller Bowl on October 24. And it will all go down at the PokerGO Studio on the Las Vegas Strip.
High-stakes poker players love their big buy-in events in No Limit Hold’em. They play entire series of only NLHE tournaments. But many of them love Omaha, too. Pot Limit Omaha brings action of the four-card kind, and high rollers have been flocking to the PLO events, especially the PLO Series, since it launched in early 2023. This month, it’s back, complete with a SHRB PLO edition to wrap up the month.
PGT PLO Series II
The second PGT PLO Series of 2024 – officially called 2024 PGT PLO Series II – is set for this month. It will run October 14-22 with nine events ranging from a $5K buy-in to the $25K PLO Championship.
The complete schedule of events is:
- Event 1 (Oct 14): $5K PLO
- Event 2 (Oct 15): $5K PLO Progressive Bounty
- Event 3 (Oct 16): $5K PLO
- Event 4 (Oct 17): $10K PLO
- Event 5 (Oct 18): $15K PLO Progressive Bounty
- Event 6 (Oct 19): $10K PLO
- Event 7 (Oct 20): $15K PLO
- Event 8 (Oct 21): $25K PLO Championship
- Event 9 (Oct 22-23): $5K PLO Bounty
All of the tournaments offer unlimited reentries except the Championship, which is limited to two reentries per player.
History of PLO Series
The inaugural PGT PLO Series ran in March 2023, the first step in bringing entirely-Omaha series into the PokerGO Tour mix. It was a success, with the $25K Championship bringing in 83 entries for a $2,075,000 prize pool. Spain’s Lautaro Guerra Cabrerizo won that tournament, along with two others, to capture the overall series champion title, good for an extra $25K on top of his other winnings.
Later in 2023, PLO Series put up another schedule (PLO Series II), and that’s PLO Championship brought in 75 entries for a $1,875,000 prize pool. It was a smaller prize pool, Daniel Geeng was able to navigate it for the win. That victory, combined with a second-place finish in another event, not to mention two other cashes, made Geeng the overall series champion.
In March 2024, the PLO Series returned, though entries in the Championship was down again, that time to 72 entries for a $1.8M prize pool. Seth Davies won that Main Event, but Samuli Sipila of Finland took first in two other events, along with second in the Championship and seventh in another event. That gave Sipila the overall PLO Series title.
PLO Super High Roller Bowl
In its second iteration, the Omaha edition of the Super High Roller Bowl will pick up where the PLO Series leaves off. The buy-in will be $100K, though there will be a $10K satellite on October 23. The tournament will play out October 24-26.
Day 1 will play eight one-hour levels of Pot Limit Omaha, and Day 2 will play the field down to just the final five players. Day 3 – you guessed it – will play to a winner.
As noted, this is only the second running of the PLO SHRB. The first one played in October 2023 with 38 entries. The tournament ended with Jared Bleznick beating Isaac Haxton heads-up to take home the $1,292,000 first-place prize.
