Nevada State Ladies Poker Championship Set for April
The Ladies International Poker Series is ready to host some big events in 2022. Now that the worst of the pandemic seems to have subsided – *knocks on wood* – poker venues are determined to stay open. Poker tournament organizers are more confident about setting series dates. And women feel more confident about planning poker trips.
LIPS has events set up for the next few months, culminating in the much-anticipated Nevada State Ladies Poker Championship in Las Vegas in April.
New Hampshire: March 6
The first event on the LIPS calendar is set for March 6 at the Boston Billiard Club & Casino. Confusingly, this is not located in Boston but in Nashua, New Hampshire.
Prior to the LIPS Queen of Hearts Boston Billiards tournament on March 6, LIPS will host a complimentary breakfast at 10am alongside tournament registration. The tournament will begin at 11am with a $150 buy-in and a maximum of 100 players – 90 at the start of the tournaments and no more than 10 alternates.
Players can register on the LIPS website to ensure a place at the tables.
Caribbean Cruise: April 3-10
Next in the lineup is a seven-night Western Caribbean cruise. Card Player Cruises is hosting the trip, as is the Women’s Poker Association. And with LIPS on board, so to speak, the poker events on the ship are also known as the LIPS & CHIX Championship at Sea. (Poker Chix was a poker club/forum for women that no longer seems to have an online presence.)
The festivities will take place on the Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas, which will depart on April 3 from Galveston, Texas. The poker room will be open from that day forward when the ship is at sea. This will exclude port stops on Day 4 in Roatan (Honduras), Day 5 in Puerto Costa Maya (Mexico), and Day 6 in Cozumel (Mexico).
Players can find an array of cash games – from Hold’em to Omaha to mixed games – and tournaments. There is no date listed for the tournaments, but there will be a $150 buy-in for women only and a $340 buy-in for all players.
Note that the ship requires proof of vaccination and a negative Covid test within 48 hours of boarding.
