Moneymaker Poker Tour Rolls on as ACR Runs Satellites
The Moneymaker Poker Tour kicked off in May 2023, with Chris Moneymaker working to make it happen alongside well-known tournament director Tony Burns as the tour’s Executive Manager. The promotions began as far back as March 2023, and the Palm Beach Kennel Club in Florida was ready to welcome players for the inaugural series stop.
Now, with the Las Vegas poker summer in the rearview mirror, the Moneymaker Tour is ready to hit the Daytona Beach Racing and Card Club for an August 17-28 series. After that, the action will travel north to Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati starting on September 21.
Even better, Moneymaker as an ACR sponsored pro is working with Americas Cardroom and the Winning Poker Network to offer satellites online. There were more than a dozen prize packages up for grabs for the Daytona stop, and it’s only a matter of time before the Cincinnati satellites begin.
Inaugural Tour Stop Recap
The first stop on the new Moneymaker Poker Tour was at Palm Beach Kennel Club (PBKC) in West Palm Beach, Florida. It started on May 10 and ran for a couple of weeks, up until just a few days before the WSOP began in Las Vegas.
The tournaments started as low as $186 for buy-ins and worked up to the $2,500 buy-in Main Event. The goal was to get players into the lower buy-in events and satellites so they could turn their limited bankrolls into something big, in the way that Moneymaker himself did in the 2003 WSOP Main Event.
The PBKC tour stop had numerous highlights, including a women-only event in partnership with Poker League of Nations (PLON), some age-specific tournaments (Older than Moneymaker meaning 47 years or older, and Younger than Moneymaker for those 46 and younger), a tag team event, and several non-hold’em options.
It all kicked off with David Schmuel winning two of the first three events – HORSE and O-8 – in the first days of action. And Eugene Calden won Event 5 outright at the age of 100. (Moneymaker was so impressed by Calden that he put him into the WSOP Main Event this summer.)
Another positive for the series was surpassing guarantees:
-$500 buy-in NLHE Kickoff = 823 entries for $353,890 prize pool ($250K GTD)
-$1K buy-in NLHE = 94 entries for $81,780 prize pool ($50K GTD)
-2,500 buy-in NLHE Main Event = 262 entries for $589,500 prize pool ($500K GTD)
Ultimately, Michael Rossi won the Main Event, outlasting such final table players as Stephen Song and James Carroll. Rossi won $134,265 to go with his trophy. It helped that Rossi started with just a $90 satellite and turned it into a six-figure payday.

Eyes on ACR for Satellites
On August 13, Americas Cardroom players were able to compete for more than 25 prize packages to the Moneymaker Poker Tour Daytona Main Event. Each package was worth $2,500, including the buy-in and money for airfare and hotel accommodations. The mega satellite ran with a $95 buy-in, but many players qualified for free by competing for spots on the weekly Beast leaderboard.
As the Cincinnati tour stop will be approaching soon enough, keep all eyes on Americas Cardroom for satellite opportunities.
