Opener and Pro Hunt Kick Off WPT World Online Championships
The World Poker Tour and partypoker kicked off the 2021 WPT WOC today, also known as the WPT World Online Poker Championships. A few weeks ago, the WPT and partypoker previewed the series, revealing Main Event information but little more.
This week, just days before the start of the 2021 iteration of this online poker tournament series, partypoker revealed the entire schedule. It showed that it had something for players of many bankroll levels, along with one big opportunity to become a new official WPT champion.
All of the action started Thursday, August 12, and it will run through Wednesday, September 15. Buy-ins run the gamut from $5.50 to $25,500. And every single tournament offers a prize pool guarantee.
The WPT Pro Hunt runs on Friday, August 13. The special event features partypoker ambassadors as bounties, each offering $109 tournament tickets for the WOC for knocking them out of the tournament. The buy-in is only $33, and it plays in an 8-max format. It also offers a $30K guarantee. And the winner of the tournament will win a $5,300 WOC Main Event seat along with her or his prize money.
Best of all, partypoker will donate 20% of the entire prize pool to Poker Gives, the longest running charitable organization launched by poker players and benefiting numerous charities. One of the players who launched it was Mike Sexton, whose memory remains alive at partypoker and World Poker Tour.
