CSOP Plans St Jude Poker and Golf Benefit for May
The Charity Series of Poker works throughout each year to host as many charity poker tournaments as possible. There is one, however, that tends to be the largest each year. In 2022, CSOP organizers hope to make it the largest one to date.
The St. Jude Against All Odds golf and poker tournament weekend is set for May 20-21, 2022. The Red Rock Casino Resort in Las Vegas is the place.
This time, the pandemic and its restrictions no longer stand in the way. Vaccines are prevalent, and casinos are keeping many of their health protocols in place. And this year, the World Series of Poker is back on the summer schedule, set to begin on May 31. That means many poker players and fans will be in Las Vegas at the end of May, maybe earlier.
All of this put together creates the perfect setting for a record-setting benefit for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Where and When
St. Jude Against All Odds is a combination of golf and poker for the first time. The weekend of May 20-21 will begin with golf on Friday and end with poker on Saturday. For those who participate in the weekend, there will also be free meals and entertainment.
It will all kick off on May 20. The golf tournament will cap at 144 competitors and play at the Siena Golf Club in Las Vegas on Friday, prefaced with breakfast and punctuated with lunch.
Saturday’s poker tournament will be at the Red Rock Casino. The turbo-structured tournament will offer up a first-place prize of a $10K seat into the 2022 WSOP Main Event this July. Tournament players will receive 10K in starting chips, 10K chips per rebuy, and 20K chips per add-on purchased.
-Check-in begins at 4pm

-Dinner program begins at 6pm
-Tournament begins at 8pm

Who and Why
Two well-known poker players will host this year’s benefit for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Charity Series of Poker Founder and President Matt Stout will host, obviously. By his side will be the founder of this particular event, Daniel Negreanu. And just revealed, world renowned comedian Joe Stapleton will MC the festivities.
The primary sponsors of this year’s benefit the Charity Series of Poker, SKC Group, Golf Venture, and Johnson Brothers of Nevada. Others include Picture Perfect Party Décor, 7Five Brewing, PokerNews, Gorilla Gaming, The Space, Dano’s Tequila, Massage Inc., Lake Las Vegas Water Sports, Las Vegas ATV Tours, VerStandig Law Firm, and the Brad Garrett Comedy Club.
All proceeds benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an internationally renowned organization that treats, understands, and works to defeat childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases that afflict children. The hospital has been operational since 1962. And since that time, they have helped change the cancer survival rate from 20% to 80%.
Matt Stout has been raising money for causes like St. Jude since long before he founded the Charity Series of Poker. But a family tragedy in 2020 made this particular cause more personal.
“St. Jude has always held a special place in my heart, but its mission took on an even more special meaning to me in 2020,” Stout told me. “I watched in horror as my 23-year-old nephew lost his two-year-old son to cancer. My resolve to help St. Jude ensure that no child dies in the dawn of life increased ten-fold. Please help us support this amazing organization that freely shares their research with the medical community so that breakthroughs made at St. Jude can be used to help treat kids around the world.”
For Stout, this is about Jacen Harold Stout Jr. and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. And it is about a way to change the world with the help of the poker community.
TY for the kind words, Mike. @StJude was already super close to my heart, but after losing my great nephew Jacen Stout Jr. this year, my commitment has never been greater. I can’t describe the pain of watching a 2 y/o go through that and wouldn’t wish that on any family. 💔 #RIP https://t.co/Vx0PrQavbp pic.twitter.com/HxLgqMistQ
