ClubWPT to Host Freeroll Series with PLON in October
The World Poker Tour recently announced that it struck a partnership with Poker League of Nations to run a series of freeroll tournaments online at ClubWPT in October.
Players from around the world will be able to participate. Those with existing ClubWPT accounts will be able to play, of course, but newcomers to the subscription online poker site will be able to sign up for a free trial period to take part in the tournaments.
What is PLON?
Poker League of Nations is a group founded in 2017 to help increase the number of women in poker. The immediate goal is to bring more women to the game around the world, and the larger goal is to encourage those women to play in open (non-gender-specific) poker games and tournaments.
“PLON acknowledges and recognizes women’s successes in events, sharing their deep runs, wins, and accomplishments,” the website reads.
Further, the group organizes tournament staking for women, hosts free educational events, and runs women’s poker seminars and tournaments.
Freeroll Series
The World Poker Tour partnered with PLON to host this series of three exclusive tournaments on ClubWPT in October.
-1. Saturday, October 3: Freeroll with $1K cash prize pool, prizes from Baccarat Crystal, Baccarat Crystal champagne flutes for winner (along with cash), Baccarat Crystal heart necklace to runner-up (with cash)

Extending a Partnership
Evans noted in the press release that PLON has had a longstanding partnership with the WPT. For example, PLON offered its members free education from the likes of Vince Van Patten, Lynn Gilmartin, and Nick Binger from the WPT during the pandemic. She said the October freerolls are a “tremendous vehicle to expand these offerings and provide winners with generous cash and prizes.”
WPT VP of Online Services Jeremy Clemons said the WPT and PLON share the common goal of growing poker. “PLON’s work over the years to increase participation from women around the globe has been tremendous,” he said.
