BetOnline Runs Shark Week During Freeroll Summer
Shark Week started in 1988. It was a simple week of programming for the Discovery Channel that focused on sharks. It became an annual airing, but it caught on with producers, who began to produce films for that particular week. By the early 2000s, bigger celebrities wanted to host Shark Week on Discovery. Businesses began to celebrate Shark Week with their own promotions.
In 2018, Shark Week celebrated its 30th anniversary with Shaquille O’Neal as its host and prizes for fans.
Shark Week in 2021 is this week. Most of you probably knew that already. Shark-themed programming and advertising is everywhere.
Enter BetOline. The online poker specialist decided to celebrate Shark Week in its own way. Poker Shark Week and its freerolls are now underway and runs through Sunday, July 18.
What is Poker Shark Week?
BetOnline is gathering the sharks on the felt. All the fish are welcome, but the sharks will prevail in the nightly freerolls and the grand finale.
Poker Shark Week started on July 11, but plenty of action remains on the schedule. Every night from July 11 through July 17, a freeroll will begin at 9pm ET. Each one will offer a $500 prize pool, and the top 10 finishers will each receive a ticket to the $1K Main Event on Sunday.

Freeroll Summer Series Underway

While at the BetOnline tables, there is more summer action to check out. The Mission Grinders Summer Edition offers $50K in daily prizes through the month of July.
Every day, players can complete five poker missions, each of which awards various numbers of points. Earn points every day to climb the leaderboard. By finishing in the top 100 on any given day, BetOnline will award cash – $1K to $1,500 per day. But toward the end of the promotion, amounts increase to $2K per day and then to $4,500 on July 31.
