BetOnline King of the Ring PKO Series Begins Feb 25
Everyone loves a good knockout tournament. Progressive knockouts are all the rage these days, especially in the online poker world. Knock a player out and immediately receive the bounty. Players don’t even have to make it through the money bubble to walk away with money in knockout tournaments because the bounties are paid regardless of finishing place.
Perhaps the love of progressive knockouts is the reason that BetOnline’s King of the Ring series does so well. It offers a slate of PKO events, each event with a guarantee. And this upcoming series will offer $1M in guarantees across 111 events. It kicks off on February 26.
King of the Ring
It’s back! The King of the Ring PKO series is a player favorite for all levels of play. Buy-ins range from $5.50 to $530K, but most of the buy-ins remain between $5 and $100. Yet and still, there are satellites and qualifiers running daily to give players the chance to qualify at a discount.
PKO’s on BetOnline operate as 50/50 tournaments, with 50% of the buy-in going to the prize pool and the other half going to bounties. Each player caries a bounty. By knocking out a player, the victor of that hand collects half of that bounty, and the other half adds to the bounty on his or her own head. The escalating – progressing, if you will – bounties available keep the action strong.
The KOTR series, as BetOnline calls it on the official schedule, begins on February 25 and wraps on March 3. And did we mention the $1M in guarantees?
KOTR Schedule
The series of 111 tournaments kicks off at 12:30am ET on February 25, and each day will feature a variety of events and buy-ins.
Most of the tournaments are of the No Limit Hold’em variety, but there are some Omaha choices as well, such as Pot Limit Omaha-6, Omaha Hi-Lo, and several others. Most tournaments have standard structures, but some boast of turbo structures.
Action will play from February 25 to March 3. That final Sunday will be packed with 16 tournaments to wrap it all up. That day (March 3) offers the following, with the Main Event in bold lettering:

King of the Ring Leaderboard
The main reason to play many of the King of the Ring events is the value, the guarantees and reasonable buy-ins. But the more events played, the closer a player can get to winning money in the King of the Leaderboard promotion.
There will be three buy-in categories for the leaderboard, separated by buy-in levels automatically. Each category will reward the top 35 players when the series ends, with tournament money payouts based on their finishes.
- Lightweight leaderboard: $1,500 total to be awarded ($150 for first place)
- Middleweight leaderboard: $3,500 total to be awarded ($250 for first place)
- Heavyweight leaderboard: $5K total to be awarded ($400 for first place)
Players earn points throughout the series, with one point awarded for each knockout. Simply join and track progress on the “My Missions/Contests” part of the BetOnline platform.
