ACR Sets Venom PKO and Launches Sunday Squeeze
Americas Cardroom is currently in the middle of its High Five tournament series. It started on April 8 and continues through April 27. There is still plenty of time to get in on the millions of dollars in guarantees. Specifically, the second Main Event of the High Five has a $1M guarantee and two starting flights on April 23-24.
The poker site also kicked off a new weekly tournament schedule on April 3. It has proven quite popular thus far, which makes sense as it was created with player feedback in mind. There are more than 200 tournaments on tap every day of the week. Buy-ins range from $0.10 to $1K. While Sunday Mania is usually the most popular of the days – as has always been the case in online poker – there are options throughout the week as well, from Manic Monday to Friday Fun and the Saturday Super Series.
But that isn’t enough for Americas Cardroom and its sister sites on the Winning Poker Network.
Before April ends, the network will introduce a new Sunday tournament. The Sunday Squeeze will have an $11 buy-in with a $100K guarantee and it will be – gulp – a freezeout.
And the network is now ready to promote the upcoming Venom PKO set to kick off in mid-May.
Sunday Squeeze: April 24
The new Sunday Squeeze will kick off on Sunday, April 24. The multi-flight freezeout tournament is going to have a fast structure. Each of the six flights will start early on Sunday and finish in just three hours, though there will be two hours of late registration for each flight. There will be no reentries allowed – thus the freezeout designation – and a $100K guarantee.
The starting flights will be:
Flight 1: 4am ET
Flight 2: 6am ET
Flight 3: 8am ET
Flight 4: 10am ET
Flight 5: noon ET
Flight 6: 2pm ET
The survivors of all starting flights will gather together at 6pm ET on Sunday to play for the win.
Venom PKO: May 13-25
The last Venom had no bounties; it was a standard Venom with its $10M guarantee. That played out in late January and early February. There was a $545K overlay to get to the $10M prize pool. And when it was over, BoBomb14 of Austria won the tournament for $1.8M.
The last Venom PKO was in September of 2021. It had its standard $5M guarantee, but the number of entries surpassed that number with an actual $5,802,500 prize pool. When it was over, badlucktou of Russia won $411,687 in prize money plus $304,408 in bounties.
Up next is the first Venom PKO of 2022. It will require the usual buy-in of $2,500 + $150, with $1,250 of the buy-in going to the prize pool and the other half going to the progressive knockout (PKO) bounty pool. Each player will start with 300K chips and 20-minute levels. There will be unlimited reentries and late registration open for 18 levels in each flight.
The schedule for the May festivities is:
-Day 1A: Friday, May 13 at 12pm ET
-Day 1B: Sunday, May 15 at 12pm ET
-Day 1C: Friday, May 20 at 12pm ET
-Day 1D: Sunday, May 22 at 12pm ET
-Day 2: Monday, May 23 at 1pm to play through Level 49
-Day 3: Tuesday, May 24 at 1pm to play to a final table of 8
-Day 4: Wednesday, May 25 at 5pm ET to play to completion
ACR will livestream the final table on its Twitch channel.
Satellites are running now. There will be a $95 buy-in Venom PKO Mega satellite on Sunday, April 24. There will be 20 Venom seats guaranteed. The mega offers unlimited reentries and already shows more than 400 players registered.
Lower-priced satellites are running as well.
