Americas Cardroom Sets High Five and Venom Dates
The Winning Poker Network, specifically flagship site Americas Cardroom, can’t help themselves. They just finished the Online Super Series (OSS) Cub3d, which ran from February 6 to March 7. That series offered three mini-series within the larger OSS to cater to various player stakes. And when that was done, they quickly tacked on more tournaments. They ran OSS Cub3d Encore March 13-21 with another 143 tournaments and $12M guaranteed.
In the past month and a half, ACR and its sister sites on WPN ran hundreds of OSS tournaments with more than $37M in guarantees. It was quite the undertaking. In addition, they’ve been awarding prize packages and trips to poker tournaments in Texas and Uruguay.
With those barely in the books, WPN sites are gearing up for the next two big events: the High Five series in April and a Venom PKO in May.
The High Five
Americas Cardroom seems to have a lot of players who smoke weed. Let’s just be frank. It is the only reason the High Five tournament even came into existence and keeps its theme centered on weed. It is what it is.
With that said, the High Five tournament series is an affordable series and very popular with players.
This 2022 High Five is set for April 8-27. There will be approximately five events per day, adding up to 100 in total. And across those events, WPN is guaranteeing at least $6M in prize pools. And, for smokers, there will be a 10-minute courtesy break for all players at 4:20pm ET each day. Smoke it if you’ve got it.
The full schedule is not yet available, but there are two tournaments with official dates:
-Main Event #1: $55 buy-in NLHE ($420K GTD), multiple flights April 10-17, Day 2 April 17
-Main Event #2: $420 buy-in NLHE ($1M GTD), 2 flights April 23-24, Day 2 April 25

The Venom
The last Venom tournament took place on Americas Cardroom and its sister sites earlier this year. There were five starting flights that brought in 3,782 entries to the $2,650 buy-in event. Since WPN promised a $10M prize pool, they put in $545K – an overlay for players – to push the prize pool up to $10M.
In the end, BoBomb14 of Austria won the first Venom of 2022 for $1.8M.
The last progressive knockout formatted Venom happened last year. In 2021, there were two of them. The first Venom PKO last year offered its standard $5M guarantee and exceeded it with $6,777,500. The second pulled in 2,321 entries for a $5,802,500 prize pool. That one ran in late September, and badlucktou of Russia won for $411,687 plus $304,408 in bounties.
While Americas Cardroom has not officially announced the next Venom, it is already up on their online poker client. It will be a Venom PKO with the usual $2,650 buy-in and $5M guarantee. The flights are set as follows:
-Day 1A: Friday, May 13 at 12pm ET
-Day 1B: Sunday, May 15 at 12pm ET
-Day 1C: Friday, May 20 at 12pm ET
-Day 1D: Sunday, May 22 at 12pm ET
-Day 2: Monday, May 23 at 1pm ET (play until the end of Level 49)
-Day 3: Tuesday, May 24 (play down to final table of 8)
-Day 4: Wednesday, May 25 at 5pm ET (play for the win)
The client shows unlimited reentries allowed for the tournament, and once a player makes it to Day 2, they cannot enter to play again. Of the $2,500 + $150 buy-in, half ($1,250) goes toward that players bounty. Players will receive 300K starting chips and play 20-minute levels. Late registration will remain open for 18 levels on each starting flight.
Satellites are already running. For example, on Sunday, March 27, there is a $95 mega satellites with 20 seats to the Venom guaranteed.
