ACR Poker Launches Fantasy Poker League Vegas
Everyone knows about fantasy sports for games like football. Some also know that there are fantasy poker leagues. The most well-known is organized by Daniel Negreanu. He has been running a WSOP-related fantasy poker draft since 2011. It typically involves some of the biggest names in poker and is fairly exclusive, mostly because it costs $25,000 to participate.
In recent years, more poker fans and players have become interested. In 2023, the group opened the fantasy league to 20 teams, each of which could collectively come up with the $25K buy-in. It was set to pay the top four teams that earned points throughout the WSOP, with a $250K prize for the ultimate winning team.
In 2023, the organizers of the $25K fantasy poker draft also hosted a $2,500 draft, in which 22 teams participated. Yet and still, when players are organizing their buy-ins and buying pieces of other players, gathering $2,500 for a fantasy team can be tough.
ACR Poker has the solution. And it all goes down this month in the lead-up to the summer of poker.
Fantasy Poker League Vegas
ACR Poker, along with sister sites on the Winning Poker Network like Black Chip Poker, will launch the Fantasy Poker League Vegas this week. There will be two weeks of registration open to players who can participate for $20, $100, or $500.
There will be 129 players up for grabs, and every fantasy league participant can create as many eight-player teams as they choose.
It’s important to note that there is no rake collected by the Winning Poker Network, so all of the money paid to play will go into the prize pool. ACR Poker and its sister sites simply provide a platform through which to play in a fantasy poker league surrounding the World Series of Poker.
The important dates are:
- Registration: Wednesday, May 15 – Tuesday, May 28
- WSOP Dates: Wednesday, May 29 – Friday, July 19
Simply go to the “rewards” section of “my account” and start selecting pros. Upon clicking “register,” you can play for $20, $100, or $500.
Players to Pick
The list of eligible players contains 120 choices. Each name in the list shows their total WSOP cashes, earnings, and bracelets. They each also come with a price. League participants will have $300 in “league money” with which to buy the players for their team(s).
Participants can search the list by any category. For example, they can choose Phil Hellmuth because of his 17 bracelets, 204 cashes, and $17.8M in WSOP earnings, but it will cost $65. A player like Shaun Deeb costs $112 because of his consistency of 171 cashes and more than $9.3M in WSOP earnings, despite having just six bracelets. Players like Jennifer Harman and Patrik Antonius cost only $3 each because of the infrequency of their WSOP play. The vast majority of players are somewhere in between that range.
Points and Prizes
Every time a member of a team cashes in the top 100 of a WSOP event (and in the money of said event), they earn points.
- 1st place: 50 points
- 2nd place: 45 points
- 3rd place: 40 points
- 4th place: 35 points
- 5th place: 30 points
- 6th place: 25 points
- 7th place: 20 points
- 8th place: 15 points
- 9th place: 10 points
- 10th place – 18th place: 5 points
- 19th place – 100th place: 1 point
There will be some fluctuation in points depending on the field size and tournament buy-in, but those details will be included with the sign-up for the Fantasy Poker League Las Vegas.
WPN sites will be tracking the points throughout the summer, and players should be able to find their accurate standings anywhere on the sites. The leaderboards will be updated throughout the summer.
Ultimately, the payouts at the end of the summer will be:
- $20 buy-in pays top 5: 40% for first place, 25% for second, 15% third, and 10% each for fourth and fifth places
- $100 buy-in pays top 3: 50% for first place, 30% for second, and 20% for third
- $500 buy-in pays top 3: 50% for first place, 30% for second, and $20 for third
