Latest ACR Updates Include Nacho, High Stakes, and Venom
There is quite a lot of poker-related action happening in and around Americas Cardroom.
The Next Moneymaker 2.0 competition is still going on, building a leaderboard through the end of May. The top finishers for the entire months-long tournament series will go onto a final on June 5, one that will reward the ultimate winner with a $115K World Series of Poker prize package. It will include the $10K WSOP Main Event buy-in and expenses, along with buy-ins for nearly any other tournament they want to play. And there is plenty of time for players to still get in on the action. Weekly tournaments start at $86 – the amount Chris Moneymaker paid for his original Main Event satellite about 20 years ago – but there are qualifiers open for just $26, too.
As that has been taking place, Americas Cardroom and its Winning Poker Network have been rolling out more excitement. Jose “Nacho” Barbero joined the team of ACR pros. The next Venom is gearing up to begin April 20, with Venom Fever running its satellite madness now. And the High Stakes Adventure Cyprus will send at least five ACR players to Cyprus to play the high-stakes Triton Series, all five of them equipped with $110K prize packages.
Let’s get into it.
Venom PKO: April 20 – May 3
The Venom is back. It’s the big flagship tournament of the Winning Poker Network with a big guarantee. Over the years, it has developed into a primary Venom and a PKO version that alternate throughout the year to bring max excitement.
The next one is the Venom PKO. The progressive knockout format will feature a $5M guarantee on the prize pool. And its action is set as follows:
-Thursday, April 20: Day 1A (first of four starting flights)
-Sunday, April 23: Day 1B (second of four starting flights)
-Thursday, April 27: Day 1C (third of four starting flights)
-Sunday, April 30: Day 1D (final starting flight)
-Monday, May 1: Day 2 (Day 1 survivors combine to play toward the money)

Venom Fever: April 2-30
As the Venom inches closer, Venom Fever heats up. (Pun intended and too easy to pass up.) The entire month of satellites will award at least 929 Venom tickets, each worth $2,650.
There are many ways to get into it:
-Daily direct satellites: $33 – $290
-Mega satellites: $55 – $630
-Paths to mega satellites: freerolls – $290
-Blitz 3-max satellites: $11 – $109
There are so many ways to work your way into a seat, starting with zero dollars, that it would be a shame not to go for it. The Venom awards life-changing money, especially to its final table players. The full list of satellites is on the ACR website.
High Stakes Adventure: April 16-23
Americas Cardroom is having such a good time sending its players to experience the world of high-stakes poker, it is doing it again. Last year, few will forget the journey of Ebony Kenney and her Triton Series final tables and life-changing tournament finishes. Earlier this year, ACR sent several players to the Triton Series in Vietnam. One of them. Mark Rubbathan, won his prize package and won an event there for $400K.
At least five people will win the chance to experience the surreal world of playing at the highest stakes at the Triton Series, this time on the Mediterranean nation of Cyprus. The series takes place May 10-25 at the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel, complete with poker but also time to explore Cyprus and make a vacation of it.
ACR will be awarding five prize packages, each worth $100K in tournament buy-ins and $10K for the trip itself. Those big satellites will take place on two Sundays this month:
-Sunday, April 16: $2,650 buy-in satellite (2 prize packages GTD)
-Sunday, April 23: $2,650 buy-in satellite (3 prize packages GTD)
Of course, those buy-ins are high. There are warm-ups scheduled a few hours before the start of each of those satellites, each with a $1,050 buy-in and $150K GTD.
Still too much? There are many more satellites priced lower to award seats into the bigger events.
🛫After sending players to #Vietnam for our inaugural #HighStakesAdventure earlier this year, we’re not done. We’re now shipping 5 players to the Mediterranean island of #Cyprus for the poker trip of a lifetime.

New ACR Team Pro: Nacho
Jose Ignacio Barbero has been in poker for more than a few years. The Argentine native started playing poker online and racked up his first live tournament wins in 2005. He has played poker all over the world, often staying in the North/Central/South America region but venturing wherever the tournaments take him. He has won everything from Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) Main Events to events at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA), European Poker Tour (EPT), and PokerGO Tour (PGT). He even won a 2022 WSOP bracelet in Las Vegas.
He has claimed more than $8.7M in live tournament winnings alone, and he is the number one poker player from Argentina by more than $2M.
Barbero’s nickname “Nacho” comes from the sound of his middle name, Ignacio. And he has rolled with it through the years.
Now, Nacho is a member of the ACR team of pros. He will represent the company in live events, as well as on Americas Cardroom online as Travisrice.
