ACR to Run Largest OSS Cub3d Ever in August
The executives at the Winning Poker Network decided that this summer was going to be packed with tournaments…and big guarantees on those prize pools. Apparently, they really like putting the word “millions” in their promotions and social media accounts. The Venom? $10M. The next OSS Cub3d? $20M. Guarantees in July and August put together? $95M.
WPN also likes breaking its own barriers and records. The Venom happening right now is the largest one to date. The upcoming OSS Cub3d will be the largest ever.
Speaking of the Venom, it just got underway this weekend. Two of the four starting flights brought in 535 entries in 1A and 1,026 in 1B entries, and the next two flights are set for July 30 and August 1. The prize pool will be at least $10M, no matter how many entries, and players are responding by registering in big numbers.
Just as that tournament will find its final prize pool number, Americas Cardroom and its sister sites on the Winning Poker Network will kick off the biggest Online Super Series to date.
Massive OSS Cub3d
Online Super Series (OSS) is a series in itself. It offers a variety of tournaments and buy-ins in a fairly standard online poker tournament series. OSS Cub3d, however, combines that one with two other components. The Mini Online Super Series (MOSS) is the low buy-in version, and the Bigger Online Super Series (BOSS) is the one with higher buy-ins. All three together make it Cub3d.
This one will be big. It will offer 268 tournaments across the entire series. The combined guarantees hit the $20M mark. And tournaments begin on August 1 and run through August 29.
Let’s break down the three components.
MOSS and OSS and BOSS
The three series will overlap. So, it’s important to look at all three parts separately so as not to be overwhelmed with the massive schedule.
There will be a kickoff tournament that belongs to none of the three parts and is simply meant to get players in the spirit of the series.
-CUBED #0 on Aug 1: $55 buy-in NLHE KickOff ($150K GTD)
MOSS is the mini series with the smallest buy-ins of the three. It starts out on Sunday, August 1 and steadily offers several tournaments each day through August 8. Here are some key events:
-MOSS #1 (high) on Aug 1: $55 buy-in NLHE PKO ($50K GTD)
-MOSS #1 (medium) on Aug 1: $23 buy-in NLHE PKO ($20K GTD)
-MOSS #1 (low) on Aug 1: $9.10 buy-in NLHE PKO ($10K GTD)
-MOSS #20 (high) on Aug 7-9: $50 buy-in NLHE PKO Main Event w/2 starting flights ($500K GTD)
-MOSS #20 (medium) on Aug 8: $23 buy-in NLHE Sunday Special ($40K GTD)
-MOSS #20 (low) on Aug 8: $10 buy-in PLO PKO Sunday Special ($10K GTD)
Some events in MOSS, as above, offer three buy-in levels for the same event, but this is not the case for all of them.
As for OSS, it will get underway on August 9 and offers the widest variety of buy-ins, from $20 to $600 in the first three events alone. This part of the series, like its mini predecessor, sets up three buy-in levels to some of its events so more people can get involved. From the long list of tournaments, these are a few must-play ones:
-OSS #1 (high) on Aug 9: $600 buy-in NLHE ($150K GTD)
-OSS #1 (medium) on Aug 9: $100 buy-in NLHE ($100K GTD)
-OSS #1 (low) on Aug 9: $25 buy-in NLHE ($40K GTD)
-OSS #32 (high) on Aug 15: $600 buy-in NLHE High Roller ($250K GTD)
-OSS #32 (medium) on Aug 15: $100 buy-in NLHE WarmUp ($400K GTD)
-OSS #32 (low) on Aug 15: $30 buy-in NLHE ($100K GTD)
-OSS #35 (high) on Aug 15: $200 buy-in NLHE Sunday Special ($400K GTD)
-OSS #35 (medium) on Aug 15: $50 buy-in NLHE ($200K GTD)
-OSS #35 (low) on Aug 15: $15 buy-in NLHE ($50K GTD)
-OSS #77 on Aug 22-23: $600 buy-in NLHE Main Event ($1M GTD)
Some of the buy-ins are rather large, but they come with significant guarantees. There are numerous satellites for all of the bigger buy-ins, so many people get the chance to qualify for much less money.
That brings the series to BOSS, which specifically caters to high-stakes players, with the exception of Event 47. Even so, as with any series, there are satellites to welcome players of all bankroll levels. With that said, there are some important parts of BOSS, as highlighted here:
-BOSS #1 on Aug 23-24: $1K buy-in NLHE ($200K GTD)
-BOSS #13 on Aug 25-26: $2,500 buy-in NLHE ($300K GTD)
-BOSS #14 on Aug 25-26: $1K buy-in NLHE ($150K GTD)
-BOSS #38 on Aug 29: $100 buy-in NLHE WarmUp ($400K GTD)
-BOSS #39 on Aug 29-30: $2,500 buy-in NLHE Main Event ($1M GTD)
-BOSS #40 on Aug 29-30: $1K buy-in NLHE ($500K GTD)
-BOSS #41 on Aug 29: $200 buy-in NLHE Sunday Special ($400K GTD)
-BOSS #45 on Aug 26-30: $600 buy-in NLHE w/6 starting flights ($2.5M GTD)
-BOSS #46 on Aug 26-30: $200 buy-in NLHE w//6 starting flights ($1M GTD)
-BOSS #47 on Aug 26-30: $15 buy-in NLHE w/6 starting flights ($250K GTD)
Note that events with two days, but without mention of multiple starting flights, play the first day until bursting the money bubble and then finish on the second day.
