ACR Continues Anniversary Party Online and in Uruguay
Anyone paying attention to online poker these days knows that Americas Cardroom has been celebrating its 21st anniversary…for months.
It started with the largest MOSS (Mini Online Super Series) in Winning Poker Network history, as well as hijinks in Las Vegas, courtesy of the Punters’ Pad for the World Series of Poker summer months. There was a special $1M GTD Anniversary tournament in July with a $109 buy-in. And the latest edition of the Venom took players from July into August by paying out more than $10M in prize money.
Now, as the OSS Cub3d online tournament series wraps, the anniversary celebration goes into afterparty mode. There are some big things already underway and others in the works.
OSS Cub3d Leads to Encore
The anniversary edition of OSS Cub3d consisted of the normal three phases of the series. MOSS was the first, which is the mini buy-in series, and then the main OSS (Online Super Series) comprised the majority of the action. BOSS (Bigger Online Super Series) offered higher buy-in opportunities to conclude the series.
The entire OSS Cub3d ran from July 31 to August 29 with hundreds of tournaments and $25M in guarantees.
There were a couple of glitches, the main one being BOSS Event 56 experiencing technical difficulties. After dozens of starting flights, the final flights couldn’t run, nor could Day 2. This forced WPN to stop the tournament and issue refunds. It was a PKO (progressive knockout) tournament, so players needed to receive the bounties, and ACR paid each player his or her own bounty. The operator distributed the prize pool based on chip counts and awarded each player still in the tournament a $215 tournament ticket to use in the future. All Day 2 players also played a $100k freeroll.
Overall, the series was a success, though.
And that led WPN and ACR to announce the OSS Cub3d Encore series. Action begins this weekend – on September 4 – and runs through September 26. And the cumulative guarantees will top $20M.
There are 57 regular events listed on the schedule so far, some with low, medium, and high buy-in versions. However, the full schedule is not yet available. The first 57 events only run through September 11, but the full listing will likely consist of more than 170 events in total.
There are two highlights to note thus far:
-Sunday, September 18: $630 buy-in Encore Main Event ($1M GTD)
-Sunday, September 25: $2,650 buy-in Encore Main Event ($1M GTD)
There is also a hint of a multi-flight tournament that will run throughout the month of September with a $2M guarantee, but the details are not yet available.

Another part of the 21st anniversary is a celebration in Uruguay in October. A number of the ACR team pros and players from around the world will descend upon the Enjoy Resort and Casino in Punta del Este for the Enjoy Poker Series. And it will culminate in a $1,100 buy-in Enjoy Main Event.
ACR is sending 21 players to vacation and play.

The goal is for players to win their way in to one of the four main satellites. One took place on August 28, but there are three more on the schedule. Each one will award five prize packages. Players can win seats to these satellites or simply buy in for $55.
